Jessica Knows Fakes Upscale Decorating

Jessica Smith, social media powered digital influencer, Blogger & Marketing Strategist indicated an interest in decorating with Uppercase Living once she saw a picture of the Morning Glory graphics on kitchen cabinets. She thought that would be a great way to update the look of her cabinets. So, I decided to send her some of the Morning Glory graphics and some other designs to apply to her walls and cabinets. I new she had a young son, so I included her child's name in two different fonts and colors.

I admit, I was worried. What if she didn't like it... what if something went wrong and she wrote a blog post about an awful experience with the products! That was the risk, but it's her blog - she can say what she thinks - good or bad! So, I was a bit nervous, but luckily, she loved it!

I caught the vision of MomFaves at the Twitter Site-Warming Party. I found it was fun to submit all my favorites. I already had a collection of my favorite websites, etc. bookmarked on my computer and Delicious, but those things were not accessed or shared with anyone else. So all this time, those things were just my "best kept secrets". So, I pulled out all my treasures and started submitting them to MomFaves. Saving the Environment

I'm not an extremist about anything really, but I do try to be as environmentally responsible as I possibly can. One of my major "hang-ups" is wasting paper or having everything printed out on paper. And this is a major reason for this blog - an attempt to minimize waste.

In this type of business as a Demonstrator, I have catalogs, lots of flyers, FAQs, Tips, Font Lists, etc. An absolute TON of documents to be printed out. To waste such a high volume of paper and printer ink to disseminate information and sales flyers drives me absolutely bananas. The sales are temporary, new catalogs come out and then you have new updated Order Forms, Invitations, etc., etc. These are all necessary I know, but why not try to reduce the volume of paper going into the landfill and save money at the same time?

About a year ago, I gave one of our beautiful catalogs to my Dentist's office. And gave him an adorable expression for his office - "You don't have to brush all your teeth, just the ones you want to keep!". Since all the girls in the office were interested in looking at the catalog, I left it there. About a month later at another appointment, I asked if they had finished looking through the catalog & if they had any questions. Then the lady at the front desk told me that she had thrown out the catalog!! I was so shocked! For one, Uppercase Living catalogs are so beautiful - how could you even think of throwing it away, and it was a current catalog! To me this was like a slap in the face and was such a senseless waste! After that, I ended up finding another Dentist!

In an effort to cut down on senseless waste, I have documents and flyers posted here that would normally be printed out. This is why I love scribd so much. You can "show" documents without wasting paper. And if someone wants to print the documents, they can do that too. It's at least an attempt to reduce waste.

I wish Direct Sales companies and retail businesses would be more conscious about this and make more of an effort to reduce waste. The catalog needs to be seen on the web in such a way that a person can "flip through" the pages like you can do with scribd documents. This is just a common sense way to deal with the paper volume and save money at the same time.

Please view the Scribd documents below and print out whatever you need have in print. The high color documents use up a lot of printer ink - hopefully your printer won't go through it as fast as mine does!

2009 - A Brand New Beginning

Today is a new beginning for me personally as well as for my Uppercase Living business. I've been with Uppercase Living for two years and during the past 2 years, I've made huge mistakes. Some of which were considered unforgiveable by those who don't even know me. Although painful, encountering those type of people show me how to never treat another human being and increase my grace towards others.

So 2009 is a fresh start for me. My first indication that this may be a blessed year was my first recruit for 2009 - Sholanda.

She's a true child of God and beautiful inside and out. She brings winds of change for the new year. And my hope and prayer is that more precious people will also come into my life. May this be a blessed year indeed.
